Healthy Snack'n

About the Owner

Hello and welcome to the Healthy Snack'n business page! My name is Rebecca Petit-Frere and as the founder and owner of Healthy Snack'n I would like to share my story about how eating healthy saved my life. During my high school years, I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection due to weeks of unsuccessful bowel movement. My doctors were forced to put me on a strict fruit and vegetable diet. It was this diet that saved my life and helped clear my system. It was this diet that opened my eyes to why eating healthy is important for our bodies.

As I began attending university in Olney, Philadelphia I realized that food security and the opportunity to have healthy eating choices were slim to none. I witnessed corner stores and unhealthy franchises such as McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy's dominate inner city poverty stricken communities. Due to my personal experience in high school with needing to eat healthy in order to recover, I knew the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables.

My passion for food justice began. Upon receiving my Bachelors of Social Work at LaSalle University, I wanted to do my part in providing and encouraging healthy eating and living. So I launched a neighborhood food pantry for the Frankford community. Our pantry strives to provide families with fresh and healthy food biweekly.

As an effort to extend our healthy eating initiative, we are providing healthy snack vending machines to local businesses, schools, churches, hospitals and fitness centers. We hope to continue spreading healthy imitative efforts through our vending machine services. All in the hopes of doing our part to change the world with one action step of eating healthy.
